Tap dance has greatly influenced dance, film, music, and social change in America: it originated in the United States in the early 19th century at the crossroads of African and Irish American dance forms. When slave owners took away traditional African percussion instruments, slaves turned to percussive dancing to express themselves and retain their cultural identities.
It is now a true Art Form and some people say Tap is like Morse code for the soul.
Tap steps and routines are becoming increasingly complex, so learning, practicing, and putting them together is great exercise for your dancer’s brain.
